Science Buddies is a peer mentoring program that partners a high school classroom with an elementary (or middle) school classroom. The older students design and implement projects/lessons/activities for the younger students. Both sides are actively invested in the content and learn soft skills such as collaboration, communication, and problem solving. A virtual component has also been added this year using Google Hangouts taking Science Buddies all across the world-pairing TLHS Earth Science classes with a 5th grade class in Georgia and another high school class in the Ukraine. The possibilities with this initiative are endless! We will take you through example lessons and activities and try out a few involving Google Hangouts and spheros!
